Archive for the ‘Awards’ Category

Just a few short weeks ago, Anna over at Oceannah found us here at The Townhouse Homesteaders.  If you are anything like me, as soon as someone follows our blog, I immediately investigate theirs.  Well, I am sure glad that Anna found us because Oceannah is right up my alley.  A great storyteller, she focuses on organic homesteading and isn’t scared to eat a few weeds in the process!  In fact, I think she’s even eager to eat them.  I’ll be looking to her recipes as Jon and I start learning to eat off the path.

So, not only did Anna find me, she nominated me for a Liebster Award.  The Liebster, which means favorite in German, is a way to recognize your favorite blogs that have fewer than 200 followers.  What a great way to find new readers!  Thank you, Anna.

When you receive the Liebster award, you are supposed to do the following:

1.  Choose five up and coming blogs to give the Liebster award to.  Blogs must have less than 200 followers.

2.  Show your thanks to the blogger who gave you the award by linking back to them.

3.  Post the award on your blog.

4.  List the bloggers you gave the award to with links to their sites.  Leave a comment on their blogs to let them know they’ve received the award.

5.  Share five random facts about yourself.

The five blogs I’d like to nominate for the Liebster Award are:

Fine Frugality

I love that this blog doesn’t make any excuses for being frugal.  In a society that loves to roll around in excess, these folks are making due with what they have and doing it in style.  Right now, you’ll find a de-clutter series going on.  I’m all about organization.  This series speaks to me.

Lightly Crunchy

Living a homesteading lifestyle is not new to Heidi.  It is the way she and her hubby grew up and it’s the way they are raising their kids.  As we aspire to be “multi-generational homesteaders”, this blog really speaks to me.

This is a great resource for us as we are just started to prep on a tiny scale.  I love the new Wake Up Wednesday series that puts you through the steps of an actual emergency.  It’s a great way to baby step into prepping.

Filing Away Cupcakes

As a woman who just graduated from law school, and I mean JUST graduated, I don’t know how she finds the time to blog, but I always look forward to her recipes.  Right now, she’s on a bit of a Paleo kick, which I find extremely intriguing…

Under the Mango Tree

This blog chronicles living a sustainable lifestyle inAustralia.  Of that, I must admit, I’m jealous.  She had me permanently hooked when I read her entry detailing how their household didn’t have enough garbage to put out for collection.  I’m jealous of her lack of trash…?

So lastly, my five facts…

1.  I hate snakes.  More than Indiana Jones hates snakes.  But I find that they make very good photo subjects.  If I can stay still long enough to take the picture.

2.  My favorite place to commune with nature is Site 7 on Forked Lake in Adirondack State Park.  Can you blame me?

3.  This is Buckley.  He goes on vacations with us and scrapbooks about his adventures.

4.  Our dog loves to run.  He’s pretty graceful for 116lbs.

5.  I enjoy taking pictures in sepia.  This guy is a resident of the Knoxville Zoo.

Thanks again for the Liebster, Anna.

Happy Homesteading,
